📊 Let's talk about GAPs: do you know what they are and how they can affect your trades? 📉

Did you know that financial markets can open with a significant difference compared to their last closing price? These movements are known as GAPs or price gaps. They occur when an asset opens above or below its last traded price, leaving a space on the chart where no trades were recorded. This can happen between Friday's close and Sunday's open, during daily trading pauses, or after economic news and unexpected events. ⚠️ Why should we pay attention to them? Because a GAP can cause a trade to open with losses greater than anticipated, especially when we hold positions over the weekend. Even a Stop Loss can be executed at a different price than the one established. 📈 A real example in gold (XAUUSD) In the image, we can observe a gap between the levels of 3,877 and 3,896, equivalent to approximately 190 points. This example reminds us of the importance of evaluating our exposure before market closes. 💡 Risk management is fundamental. Protecting profits, adjusting positions, reviewing the economic calendar, and assessing whether it is advisable to keep trades open can make a big difference. Remember that GAPs do not always appear nor do they necessarily close. In trading, anticipating risks is as important as identifying opportunities.
